On Thursday 19th May, Inflexion hosted a football tournament together with the Kinetic Foundation which was attended by 16 teams from Inflexion’s adviser network. Each team was asked to make a £750 donation to Kinetic, resulting in £12,000 being raised for the charity.
The Kinetic Foundation supports disadvantaged and disengaged young people from the most deprived areas in London by delivering a wide range of educational opportunities for them to learn new skills and improve their employment potential. Initial engagement with young people is through free weekly football sessions often run at evening hours of high crime and antisocial behaviour. Kinetic has 56 academy graduates who have been signed by professional football clubs, 261 graduates in employment and 55 studying at university.
The Inflexion Foundation granted £40,000 to the Kinetic Foundation in 2021, and James Stevens, Assistant Director at Inflexion, sits on the Board of Trustees. This funding has enabled Kinetic to secure a full-time social media and marketing professional to help engage, recruit and retain participants to their programmes. The organisation has also partnered with a chat-based mental health app to support their participants as part of their commitment to improving young people’s mental health.
The funds raised from the Inflexion football tournament will be used to help the Kinetic young people get opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have. We wouldn’t exist without the kids, but also the generosity of our partners in making these events happen. Not only have Inflexion helped us to raise money, but the event has also raised our profile as a charity, and we have already had interest from some of the teams who want to support Kinetic in their own way.
James Fotheringham, Co-Founder, Kinetic Foundation
Inflexion is committed to giving back, and our partnership with Kinetic is a great example of that. The relationship with our charity partners does not stop at the initial grant, and I am proud of the way that the Inflexion team has pursued other ways to support this fantastic charirty. I would also like to thank all of the firms that took part and made generous donations to this great cause.
