Inflexion marks 25 years of backing ambition

Inflexion is proud to be celebrating 25 years since it was founded to partner with ambitious, entrepreneurial management teams to accelerate growth. During this time the firm has grown into a leading mid-market private equity investor with assets under management of £10 billion. Inflexion would like to thank all the colleagues, investors, management teams and advisers who have helped the firm on its journey.

Today Inflexion has a clear strategy to address the full spectrum of the European mid-market, providing majority and minority funding solutions.

Since 1999 Inflexion has backed 117 businesses, with the current portfolio of 56 companies generating a combined EBITDA in excess of £1.2 billion, collectively employing 40,000 people, and with operations reaching 160 countries.

To date the firm has exited 61 businesses delivering an overall gross return of 3.4x invested capital and 35% IRR, with companies backed by Inflexion doubling headcount and growing EBITDA by 20% per annum on average.

The firm prides itself on its entrepreneur-first approach as demonstrated by its ongoing innovation in a number of areas:

  • Providing a full mid-market solution across the UK and Europe for both entrepreneurs and Limited Partners through the firm’s flagship Buyout Fund, the unique Partnership Capital Fund which offers minority equity funding to allow owners to retain control, and the Enterprise Fund which maintains Inflexion’s heritage in backing lower mid-market businesses
  • Establishing value acceleration resources covering M&A, international expansion, digital enhancement (including data and artificial intelligence), commercial effectiveness, ESG and talent management
  • Opening offices in Amsterdam and Stockholm to cater for the mid-market opportunity across Northern Europe
  • Launching the Inflexion Foundation to formalise the firm’s charitable giving and pro bono activities, with £8 million donated to date
